BANGKOK, THAILAND – November 20, 2009 – Spatality announced today that it has been tapped to provide market research & feasibility and concept development services for the destination spa at the planned 346 hectare Sky Resort project just outside Mongolia’s capital of Ulaan Baatar.
Expected to open in 2012, the integrated year-round resort will boast an 18-hole championship golf course, a three-lift ski resort and a wellness resort & spa comprised of 75 hotel rooms, 20 villas, 35 condos, two restaurants, a Buddhist monastery, a Tibetan medical facility, spa and stables.
“Done right, this resort will make Mongolia a major wellness destination,” said Ingo Schweder, Spatality’s CEO, “and we will make sure it’s done right. In partnership with the Tibetan medical facility, we will make this an authentic wellness destination for the region and the world.”
The spa resort will also be utilizing Spatality’s Bodhi Dhama wellness brand, the first major placement outside a planned property in Koh Samui, Thailand. Developed in conjunction with Professor Gerard Bodeker of Oxford University’s School of Integrated Medicine, and proprietary to Spatality, Bodhi Dhama is a wellness retreat concept focused on a holistic approach to health that incorporates mind, body and spirit. The core wellness philosophy is based on Yoga and the modalities of Indian Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Tibetan Traditional Medicine and influences from Arabia. The Spa offers the chance to redefine and transform lifestyles through traditional therapies along with the best of international wellness experiences.
“We are very excited to be part of this project,” says Schweder. “It is a perfect example of the direction the world is taking today, both in terms of an ever-increasing knowledge [of] and desire for holistic wellness, and the global shift from the established economies of the West to the rapidly developing economies of the East.”
