The Claridges Spa to Open June 2010

BANGKOK, THAILAND – November 1, 2009 – The Claridges Spa at The Claridges Surajkund, Delhi, NCR, India is slated to open in June 1, 2010, spa management company Spatality announced today. The 1,393 sm spa will be a significant component of the overall amenity platform of the 204-room luxury resort targeted to business and leisure travelers. Spatality will manage the spa and is currently working with ownership on the pre-opening phase of the project.

Nestled amidst the exquisite architecture and elegant décor of the resort, The Claridges Spa will offer a well-rounded array of treatment options and guest amenities and will boast four multipurpose rooms, two Ayurvedic rooms, two beauty suites, two Thai massage rooms, one couple’s suite and separate manicure and pedicure stations. In addition, the spa will include a full service gym, yoga studio, juice bar, an outdoor retail area and an outdoor pool. It is being designed in a contemporary style best described as graciously Indian.

“The Claridges Spa will be the largest and most luxurious spa in the region,” said Pummy Sherpa, spa director for The Claridges. “From the treatment menu to the fitness programming to the facilities themselves, the attention-to-detail is sublime and will provide a stunning experience for all of our guests. We are truly looking forward to opening the spa and showing it to the world.”

Claridges Hotels & Resorts tapped Spatality to create and manage the spa in June 2008. Since then, the company has been steadily working with the property to develop a spa that fits within the brand platform of the overall resort. The resort itself lies within the lush landscapes of Delhi’s historic Tughlakabad Fort, a beautiful and legendary neighborhood a short 45 minutes from Delhi proper. The resort is well positioned as a high-end business conference center that will also cater to the ever-growing regional weekend getaway set looking for respite and relaxation in a setting of sheer beauty.

“The Claridges Spa is soon to be a crown jewel in the area,” said Ingo Schweder, Spatality’s CEO. “The notion of spa plays such a special role in most regions of India, both in a historical and practical context. The development team is working diligently to create a contemporary luxury spa with a uniquely Indian flavor, and we’re happy to be a part of such a fine project.”

The Claridges Surajkund is owned by Claridges Hotels & Resorts, which also owns and manages The Claridges, Delhi, The Claridges Nabha Residence in Mussoorie and The Searock Hotel in Mumbai. It is one of the fastest growing luxury hospitality companies in the world.
